Pack 972 Event Calendar for 2010-2011 Scouting Year.

Please check the "Upcoming Events" list at www.pack972.org for the most recent updates prior to an event.

Saturday,
August 21,
7:30 AM
Lake St Louis Triathlon Service Project – Pack 972 will be manning the water distribution station along Rue Grand at Leon Ct, the "Short course turn-around, (long course, keep going!)" point. Meet at 7:30 AM at Leon Ct (look for Rouen Ct if Leon Ct is too small to be shown on the map you are using- both meet Rue Grand at the same place), and try to be there before they start limiting traffic after 8 AM. Bring lawn chairs, personal beverages, snacks, orange cones, and frisbees if desired (to keep the kids busy while waiting for the runners). Trash bags and a few rakes or brooms are also handy for cleaning up the used bottles. Please park in the center of the court or along the street on the other side, so we don't block any driveways. A limited number of Triathlon volunteer T-shirts are usually available on a first-come, first served basis. Contact John Campbell for more information.

Pack Family Picnic at Quail Ridge Park - We have booked Pavillion 2 for Sunday, August 30. This is near the pavilion area just where we had it last year, but the last driveway on the left. Invite your relatives and friends to join us for fun, food, and games in the great outdoors. Bring your frisbees for the disc golf course, and any other outdoor sporting goods that might be suitable. The usual events, such as egg toss and rain gutter regatta (with boats made from styrofoam at the event) are planned. The Pack will provide the hot dogs, hamburgers, buns, lemonade and condiments, while the Dens will bring side dishes, desserts, and soda.

THERE IS NO EVENT COST (the Pack provided items are paid for through annual dues and the popcorn fund raising campaign), but each family in your den is asked to bring something to share:
Wolves: Picnic Side Dishes and 2 liter bottle of soda
Bears: Desserts and 2 liter bottle of soda
Webelos I: Fruit or Veggie Tray and 2 liter bottle of soda
Webelos II: Picnic Side Dishes and 2 liter bottle of soda

Run for the Wall is also on this date, but this is the only Monday where the room is available for our Pack Mtg. We need to discuss if we want to do the Space Derby at a Pack Meeting, since it may not be something easily done at Scout Quest. We'll also want to ensure all the boys finish their rank requirements by this meeting. Typically all remaining rank advancement needs to be done by this event, as rank promotion items (book, neckerchief, slide) will be presented.

 * May Pack Outing - "Scouts in Space" - Broemmelsiek Park- Shelter #2 - 4 PM until 8:30 PM.  Join us for model rocket launching and the Space Derby (rubber band powered rocket models), a picnic, and stargazing with the Astronomical Society of Eastern Missouri (weather permitting) at Broemmelsiek Park.  Scouts will be able to work on the Astronomy Belt Loop using powerful telescopes.

The picnic will be potluck, with the Pack providing hot dogs, hamburgers, buns, and condiments.  Please bring a dish to pass and/or a dessert.  You might also want to bring frisbees and other outdoor sporting equipment to play with.

We'll also want to ensure all the boys finish their rank requirements by this meeting, as we will present any remaining advancement awards and then graduate the boys to their next level with new books and neckerchiefs.  Activities done after this function (such as summer camp advancement) will count toward their new rank.
